With the increasing application of metal additive manufacturing in large-format industrial parts, build size, manufacturing efficiency, and cost-control are requirements the industry is drawing ever more into view. With consistent focus on maximizing batch production capabilities with multi-laser technologies on large-format metal platforms, Farsoon has worked alongside customers in automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, and energy sectors with a wide range of engineering materials.
Now Farsoon is excited to announce the development of the FS1521M, a novel platform with extra-large build volume featuring 16 fiber lasers.
The FS1521M series boasts a standard build volume of Φ1530mm platform and 850mm Z-axis. It is equipped standard with 16, 500-watt fiber lasers boosting productivity for volume fabrication. The FS1521M-U is also offered with an extended Z-height of 1650mm enabling huge potential in oil & gas as well as aerospace applications.
In addition to the extra-large build volume, the FS1521M series also offers circular and square build cartridge configurations to meet a broad range of application needs. The FS1521M-U square cartridge features a significant build volume of 3,862 Liters – one of the largest in the metal laser-powder bed fusion market.
Thanks to the new calibration algorithms deployed on the 16-laser scanning strategy, each laser’s operation and overlap can be precisely controlled, ensuring uniform mechanical properties of the parts throughout the build area. The advanced multi-laser scanning strategies offers optional modes towards efficiency, quality, or balanced performance for different manufacturing needs. With high build rate of up to 400cm³/h (eg 3.27kg/hr in Inconel, for example), the FS1521M series offers maximized printing speed for large-format parts, or reduced manufacturing cost for volume series production.
Additionally, to further enhance part quality and operational flexibility, the FS1521M series features innovative gas flow design ensuring stable, real-time particle removal throughout the large platform. Parallel permanent filtration systems allow uninterrupted operations for extreme build times.
The contact-less, closed-loop powder handling system includes powder supply, recycling and sieving; is conducted under a fully inert gas-protected system for operational safety. Thanks to the modular and redundant powder container design the FS1521M offers continuous feeding and collection of overflow powder for an easy, streamlined powder management process.
