Farsoon and Apollo Automobil Bring the Apollo Evo Titanium Exhaust from Concept to Production

Oct. 21, 2026

Through close engineering collaboration, Farsoon Europe supported the development and industrial production of the exceptional titanium exhaust pipes and exhaust tips for the Apollo Evo, demonstrating how additive manufacturing enables highly complex components from concept to small series production.

Sindelfingen, Germany – [21.10.2026] – Some collaborations start with a business meeting. Our journey for the new Apollo EVO began with a long-standing personal connection, a shared passion for fast cars and mutual enthusiasm for additive manufacturing.  Working in close collaboration with Apollo Automobil GmbH, Farsoon Europe GmbH supported the development and industrial production of the titanium exhaust pipes and exhaust tips for the Apollo Evo. Apollo contributed its expertise in hypercar engineering and design, while Farsoon provided additive manufacturing know-how, DfAM expertise, and XXL industrial production capabilities. The project resulted in one of the largest additively manufactured titanium exhaust systems developed for a road-going vehicle and demonstrates the value of integrating additive manufacturing expertise from the earliest stages of product development.

Rather than adapting a completed design for production, both engineering teams collaborated throughout the development process to ensure design, functionality and manufacturability evolved together. Applying Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles enabled complex assemblies to be consolidated into one highly integrated titanium component, reducing assembly effort and minimizing downstream manufacturing operations while preserving the original design intent.

The first customer vehicle was officially unveiled at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Its name: Apollo Evo “Caribbean Dragon”. One of the defining features of the project is the distinctive Dragon Skin surface on the exhaust pipe, the highly distinctive texture is generated directly during the build process, adding no additional manufacturing steps. Developed jointly by Apollo and Farsoon specifically for additive manufacturing, the structure is generated directly during the build process rather than being applied in a secondary manufacturing step. This ensures a highly consistent appearance across the complete production run. According to Apollo, the surface also contributes to improved heat distribution.

The head-turning exhaust tips are produced using Farsoon’s proprietary high-productivity process parameters. Precisely machined details create a mirror-like chrome finish, naturally drawing attention to this unique design.

The titanium exhaust pipes and exhaust tips were manufactured on a Farsoon FS811M-6 laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) system using TA15 (Ti-6.5Al-2Zr-Mo-V) titanium alloy. Farsoon has developed its own high-productivity parameter set, utilizing a substantially increased layer thickness. This enables outstanding surface quality with an exclusive appearance, while simultaneously delivering exceptional productivity.

To efficiently manufacture the enclosed exhaust geometry, Farsoon applied its patented Beam Shaping technology. This enabled the exhaust pipes to be produced in one piece, without internal support structures, significantly reducing post-processing time while allowing complete pipe geometries to be manufactured instead of welding together multiple separately produced sections. The project ultimately resulted in the successful production of the titanium exhaust pipes and exhaust tips for all ten Apollo Evo vehicles, demonstrating how advanced additive manufacturing can reliably support highly complex, low-volume production.

The Apollo Evo project reflects Farsoon’s collaborative approach to industrial additive manufacturing: supporting customers beyond machine delivery by contributing engineering expertise throughout product development. By combining application knowledge with advanced manufacturing technologies, Farsoon helps transform ambitious concepts into production-ready solutions while preserving the performance, functionality and design intent of the final component.

Another key to success was dividing the project into smaller development stages, minimizing risk while providing greater confidence throughout the process. Additive manufacturing made it possible to evaluate multiple support-free design concepts in parallel and quickly produce samples for milling tests and various surface treatments, significantly accelerating the development cycle.

“Projects like this demonstrate that truly groundbreaking products can only be developed and successfully scaled when customers, designers, and manufacturing experts collaborate closely from day one—always keeping industrial feasibility and economic viability in focus. We don’t just sell machines—we help customers succeed with additive manufacturing. As a long-term technology partner, we work together to discover the right applications, explore innovative design approaches, and minimize risk through proven development methods. Real serial production success stories provide the confidence to move from concept to industrial implementation.”
